Licensing & Credentials

 

1) In order to protect the patient, the radiologist must be licensed in the state in which the patient undergoes the examination.  The radiologist must also comply with the regulations of the jurisdiction where he or she is physically present during the performance of the interpretation.

 

2) The radiologist must be appropiately credentialed at the site in which the examination is performed when this is required by that site.

 

The radiologists who are involved in practicing teleradiology will conduct their practice in a manner consistent with the bylaws, rules, and regulations for patient care at the site in which the patient undergoes the examination.

 

3) The radiologist must carry appropriate malpractice coverage.  This must be valid in the state in which the patient undergoes the examination.
